Armchair Heritage Neighborhood Tour

June 1 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

Inspired by “Leon County Heritage Tour Guidebooks and Maps,” a companion to the booklet entitled, “In Their Own Words: African American Oral Histories, Leon County, Florida,” published by the John G. Riley Center and Museum of African American History and Culture, this 2-hour Armchair Heritage Tour is a PowerPoint and in-person journey through time providing an opportunity to observe recorded interviews of people who lived on a plantation, view past and present photos of particular landmarks, and learn historical facts. A few individuals will join us, sharing their experiences in these communities. We hope to entice you to further explore, at your leisure, the landmarks containing rich history that we have right here in our backyard. Communities we will cover will be Frenchtown, Bradfordville, Miccosukee, Chaires, and the Allen Subdivision.
